Circus Alegria will light up the Paso Robles Event Center for the first time this weekend.

This weekend’s showcase will feature performances from dancers, contortionists, acrobatics and a menagerie of animatronic animals.

“It’s a family show,” Circus Alegria owner Octavio Alegria said.

Many of the performers trained at Cirque du Soliel before coming to Circus Alegria, he said. But the star of the show is a 40-foot animatronic King Kong the circus purchased in Japan.

“It’s even better than the one at Universal Studios,” he said.

The family-run Circus Alegria has performed worldwide for four generations and today the Alegria family is involved in every aspect of the show, from coordinating, setting up, moving and performing, he said.

“We are proud of what we have,” he said. “It’s a family business.”
