Pedestrian struck, killed by Amtrak train in Grover Beach, police say
A pedestrian died Sunday morning after being struck by a passing Amtrak train in Grover Beach, according to the Grover Beach Police Department.
Around 6:40 a.m. Sunday, Grover Beach police officers and medical responders were dispatched to the 800 block of South Fourth Street in response to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a train, the agency said in a Sunday news release.
“Unfortunately, the person did not survive their injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,” police said in the release.
“Officers secured the scene and canvassed the area for witnesses,” police said.
Police are currently investigating the death, with assistance from the San Luis Obispo County Coroner’s Office.
The identity of the person had not yet been released as of midday Sunday pending notification of surviving family members.
