Drivers can expect delays on Highway 1 in Morro Bay this weekend due to an broadband installation project, according to Caltrans.

A stretch of the highway just south of Yerba Buena Street will experience “intermittent full closures” from 4 to 10 a.m. Sunday, the state road agency said in a news release on Wednesday.

“These brief closures will allow utility crews to place a fiber optic cable aerially on two existing utility poles crossing Highway 1 at Vashon Street,” Caltrans said in the release.

The California Highway Patrol will be conducting traffic stops with delays up to 10 minutes.

According to Caltrans, the contractor for the Astound Broadband installation project is EDT Tec of Livermore.
