Traveling on Highway 41? Drivers can expect delays on this key stretch

Caltrans

Construction will cause overnight delays on a key stretch of Highway 41 in San Luis Obispo County, between Morro Bay and Atascadero, according to Caltrans.

The $5 million paving project affects the highway from Main Street in Morro Bay to Los Altos Road in Atascadero, Caltrans said in a Tuesday release.

Crews will be grinding and paving about 11 and a half miles of roadway, the release said.

The southbound lane is being worked on first, then the northbound lane will follow, Caltrans said.

According to Caltrans, drivers can expect one-way traffic control overnight on the highway from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday.

A striping operation will also take place on the highway, just north of the paving project, the release said.

That will take place from Santa Ysabel Avenue to Homestead Road from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday.

Roadwork is expected to last until mid-August, the release said, but workers will be taking a break the week of July 3.

Caltrans has placed message and directional signs to assist travelers, who can expect a delay up to 20 minutes during the overnight hours.

Papich Construction of Arroyo Grande is the contractor for the project, Caltrans said.
