SLO County road that washed out during storm is getting a temporary bridge. What to expect
A North County road washed by winter storms will close this week for construction, according to the San Luis Obispo County Public Works Department.
Chimney Rock Road in Paso Robles will close Friday while a temporary bridge is installed across the hole in the road, Public Works announced Monday in a news release.
The road will be closed Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. near Fawn Lane at milepost 12.425, the agency said.
The bridge will be completed by July and remain in use until a permanent structure is built, according to the release.
Heavy rains in March washed out culverts beneath Chimney Rock Road just south of Lake Nacimineto, leaving an 80-foot-long and 50-foot-wide gap in the road, the release said.
In April, the county built a temporary construction road across the creek to allow residents, construction and emergency vehicles to access the area, Public Works said.
This temporary road will be dismantled before the next rainy season, according to the release
The county Public Works Department will collaborate with Souza Construction to install the bridge, the release said.
“Road closure advisory signs will be posted along Chimney Rock Road and in appropriate locations to alert the traveling public,” Public Works said in the release. “Residents and motorists in the affected area are advised to prepare in advance.”
