SLO County man killed in Highway 166 rollover crash, CHP says
A 56-year-old Grover Beach man was killed early Monday in a rollover crash on Highway 166 east of Santa Maria, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Emergency personnel were dispatched at about 4:45 a.m. to Highway 166 west of Alamo Creek Road, north of Twitchell Reservoir, where they found a vehicle on its wheels partially blocking the westbound lane, CHP Officer Maria Barriga said.
Investigation indicated the eastbound vehicle had traveled up an embankment to the north of the roadway before overturning and coming to rest on its wheels, Barriga said.
The driver, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, was declared dead at the scene.
The San Luis Obispo County resident was not wearing a seat belt, Barriga said, adding that it was not known whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
