An overturned trailer blocked traffic on Highway 101 just north of San Luis Obispo on Thursday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s traffic incident report page, a trailer being towed by a semi-truck flipped on the northbound lanes of the freeway just before the Highway 58 off-ramp around 3:36 p.m.

The trailer dumped cardboard and pallets across the roadway, blocking both lanes.

The CHP said it could take between one and two hours to fully clear the road.

Traffic heading north on the Cuesta Grade was stuck at a stand-still as of 4 p.m., according to Caltrans’ QuickMap. As of 7 p.m., traffic stretched back to San Luis Obispo.
