Pismo Beach honored fallen veterans in a Memorial Day ceremony on the Pier on Monday.
The ceremony began at 11 a.m. and featured representatives from six military branches, four of whom spoke during the event.
Those speakers included retired Air Force Capt. Dan Beck, Chaplain David Hutsko and Seaman Jerry Kaufman.
Warren Addison, an Air Force veteran, spoke and then was honored at the end of the ceremony for having organized 26 years of Memorial Day and Veterans Day events in Pismo Beach. During the event, a unanimous proclamation was read by the Pismo Beach City Council as Addison is stepping away from being the lead organizer.
Pismo Beach Mayor Ed Waage conducted the official welcome, and the St. Patrick’s Children’s Choir led the Pledge of Allegiance and performed both “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “America the Beautiful.”
The ceremony ended with a wreath presentation, rifle volley and the playing of “Taps.”
