Man killed in ATV rollover crash near Lopez Lake

A man was killed in a fatal all-terrain vehicle crash in the South County on Wednesday afternoon.
California Highway Patrol public information officer Miguel Alvarez said the CHP received a call for assistance at around 3:59 p.m. from a location on Hi Mountain Road several miles east of Lopez Lake and north of the Arroyo Grande area.
Alvarez said an elderly man was killed when his ATV went off the road into a ditch and rolled over.
According to emergency services app PulsePoint, responders and tow crews were at the scene of the traffic collision until at least 6 p.m. while waiting for a commercial tow truck with a long enough cable to reach the vehicle.
An investigation is still in progress, Alvarez said.
