Injured woman airlifted from popular SLO trail after getting stuck between 2 boulders
A hiker was airlifted to the hospital on Wednesday afternoon after suffering an injury on San Luis Obispo’s Bishop Peak trail.
Firefighters found the hiker stuck between two large “boulder-style” rocks at the top of the trail at about 1:30 p.m., according to Cal Fire spokesperson Toni Davis.
She had moderate injuries, Davis said.
“Due to the terrain, we didn’t want to take the risk of hiking her down,” Davis said, so firefighters called for Helicopter 3 from Santa Barbara to airlift the hiker to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center.
SLO City Fire and the Urban Search and Rescue team assisted with the rescue.
Firefighters completed the rescue and left the scene by 3:11 p.m., Davis said.
