SLO County vineyard worker dies after tractor rolls down hill, sheriff says
A San Miguel vineyard worker was found dead Friday evening after his tractor rolled down a hill and overturned, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.
Leonides Magallon, 72, was driving a tractor on Allende Road northwest of San Miguel on Friday when the vehicle went off the road and rolled down a hill, Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Tony Cipolla wrote in an email to The Tribune.
The tractor flipped over approximately three times, throwing Magallon from the vehicle, Cipolla said.
At 9:30 p.m. Friday, Magallon’s boss at the vineyard found his body about 30 feet from the tractor, Cipolla said, and called the Sheriff’s Office.
Cipolla said investigators are “not sure at this time if the victim suffered a medical event causing the tractor to go off the road.”
An autopsy is planned, he said.
