Wildflowers transform SLO County into spring paradise. See the stunning superbloom photos

Spring means wildflower season on the Central Coast, and this year’s display has been truly spectacular.

Colorful blooms have carpeted the hills east of Santa Margarita along Highway 58, transforming bare fields into lush carpets of goldfields, California poppies, tidy tips and baby blue eyes.

The superbloom can be seen at Shell Creek Road, as well as Bitterwater Road and La Panza Road.

Meanwhile, wildflowers have colored Carrizo Plain National Monument yellow, from the ridgelines of the Temblor Range to the shores of Soda Lake.

Elsewhere in San Luis Obispo County, wildflowers have been spotted at Montana de Oro State Park near Los Osos and California Valley off Highway 58.

Bountiful blossoms can also be seen in Santa Barbara County along Highway 166 through the New Cuyama area and Figueroa Mountain north of Los Olivos.
