Kids dash for eggs at 34th annual hunt in Arroyo Grande
Hundreds of kids and adults turned up on Saturday as Arroyo Grande celebrated its 34th annual Egg Hunt & Festival at Elm Street Park.
Twenty-five thousand eggs were stuffed by volunteers, local school students and service groups, according to Sheridan Bohlken, Recreation Services Director for the City of Arroyo Grande.
“The Elks Lodge of Oceano donated over 1,000 hot dogs, chips and drinks,” Bohlken said. “(Our) staff estimated that approximately 2,500 visitors attended Saturday’s event.”
The festivities included bunny hop races, an egg toss competition and, of course, the egg hunts for all ages, including one for teens and adults. There were Olympian-type games operated by Central Coast Athletic Foundation, in addition to carnival games, bounce houses and face painting.
“The adult egg hunt is unique to Arroyo Grande as the only adult egg hunt of the Central Coast of California,” Bohlken said.
