Headed to the Valley? Pothole repair project will close Highway 41

Travelers can expect traffic delays on Highway 41 this week.

Caltrans is repairing potholes and paving damaged stretches of the road north of the so-called Cholame Y where Highway 41 and Highway 46 meet in northern San Luis Obispo County, the agency said in a news release.

The route is popular among those traveling to and from the Central Valley.

Caltrans will initiate one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday to perform road repairs, the release said.

Roadwork will repair potholes on Highway 41 this week from the Cholame Y to Reef City in Kings County. Drivers should plan for reversing traffic Monday and Tuesday. The highway will be completely closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

“There will be flaggers on both ends of the lane closure with a pilot car for travelers to follow,” Caltrans said in the release.

Traffic delays could last up to 20 minutes, according to Caltrans.

On Wednesday, Caltrans will close Highway 41 in both directions from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Highway 41 from the Cholame Y to Reef City in Kings County, about 18 miles north of the border with San Luis Obispo County.

“Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones,” the release said.
