I-5 closure, weather once again slows Highway 101 traffic to a crawl through SLO County
Traffic on Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo County is moving at a snail’s pace in many areas on Saturday afternoon, thanks mostly to a major inland highway closure.
Some of the areas of densest traffic include between Paso Robles and Atascadero, along the Cuesta Grade, between San Luis Obispo and Pismo Beach, from Grover Beach to just past Arroyo Grande and then from Nipomo to the Santa Barbara County line, according to the Caltrans QuickMap.
CHP said the delays are caused by weather conditions, as well as the closure of Interstate 5 between Los Angeles and Kern counties due to snow.
Meanwhile in Templeton and San Luis Obispo, there have been multiple reports of non-injury collisions and road hazards related to the rainy weather. Two areas by southbound Highway 101 in Templeton have reports of weather-related hazards as of Saturday afternoon.
In addition, the Highway 101 southbound ramp to Stagecoach Road in Templeton is closed until April due to gas line work.
