Two people were displaced Friday night after a part of the ceiling of their Grover Beach home collapsed.

A “structural collapse” was reported in the 100 block of Janet Avenue in Grover Beach around 5:22 p.m.

Five Cities Fire Authority responded and found part of a ceiling at the rented home had collapsed.

Fire Chief Steve Lieberman said they were waiting for a building inspector to come by to determine why it fell, but initial observation indicated it might have been due to water damage.

Two people were living in the home, and one was assessed by medics after the incident but uninjured, Lieberman said.

Lieberman noted Friday was a busy day in the Grover Beach area due to the ongoing storm, with several incidents and reports of weather-related damage.
