Traffic backs up on Highway 101 through Shell Beach. Here’s what’s causing the delay

One lane was closed on Highway 101 through Shell Beach on Saturday, causing traffic to back up on the northbound side of the highway.

Caltrans District 5 closed the lane due to guardrail repairs near Spyglass Drive, the agency announced in a tweet Saturday morning.

“Expect slowing and drive carefully on approach to this location,” Caltrans District 5 wrote in a tweet.

The closure had been expected to last until 10:30 a.m. according to Caltrans.
