Grover Beach police identify pedestrian killed by Amtrak train in December

The San Luis Obispo County Coroner’s Office identified the woman who was hit and killed by an Amtrak train on Dec. 27, Grover Beach police said in a news release.

Karen Ayn Anderson, 54, of Grover Beach was killed in the collision on the train tracks in the 200 block of North Highway 1, the release said.

“Our investigation, which involved interviewing several eyewitnesses and reviewing video of the collision, determined Ms. Anderson was walking on the tracks in the path of the train and failed to heed the warning form the train’s horn prior to the collision,” the release said.

There was no foul play involved in the collision, the release said.

“The Grover Beach Police Department extends our condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Anderson,” the release said.
