A powerful rainstorm brought wind and waves to Avila Beach in San Luis Obispo County this weekend.
Avila Beach experienced high winds on Saturday evening — reaching nearly 30 mph, according to Windfinder.com — while Sunday morning brought huge waves ocean smashing onto the beach.
About a dozen surfers took to the storm-surge waves Sunday morning at the Avila Beach Pier.
The wave action created a foamy ocean and, combined with a high tide, sent frothy waves to the wall of the Avila Beach promenade.
Even the seabirds on the beach had foam on their claws.
