Update: Nearly 4,000 without power in SLO County as rain storm continues

Update, 4:40 p.m.: Multiple outages continued across San Luis Obispo County late Saturday afternoon with 3,810 customers without power as of 4:26 p.m.

Grover beach had the most unplanned outages, with 1,791 customers affected. Oceano had the second highest number of outages at 631 customers affected.

Other cities facing outages included Atascadero, Cambria, Cayucos, Edna, Garden Farms, Harmony, Los Osos, Morro Bay, Paso Robles, Pismo Beach, San Luis Obispo and Templeton.

Nearly 8,000 PG&E customers were without power in San Luis Obispo County early Sunday afternoon due to stormy weather.

A total of 7,941 customers did not have electricity as of 12:59 p.m., according to the energy company’s outage center.

The city of San Luis Obispo was hit the hardest by unplanned outages, with 3,314 customers affected, according to PG&E.

In Grover Beach, 1,460 customers were without electricity, PG&E reported, and 1,318 customers were without power in Arroyo Grande.

Customers in Atascadero, Cambria, Cayucos, Los Osos, Morro Bay, Nipomo, Oceano, Paso Robles, Pismo Beach and Templeton were also affected, according to the outage map.

It was unclear as of 1:30 p.m. Sunday when power was slated to be restored.

San Luis Obispo County saw flooding, road closures and multiple downed trees and power lines as heavy rain fell across the Central Coast on Saturday evening.

Power outages left more than 29,000 customers in the dark late Saturday night, according to PG&E.

Strong to gale-force southwesterly winds, rain showers and a chance of thunderstorms were expected Sunday, with brief downpours and hail, meteorologist John Lindsey said.

According to Lindsey, scattered convective rain showers and dropping snow levels will develop Sunday night and continue through Monday morning.
