Four crashes on the Cuesta Grade are backing up traffic on Tuesday.

The first crash occurred at 5:20 p.m. on northbound Highway 101 in the area of the East Cuesta Ridge Road parking lot, according to Caltrans QuickMap. It involved four vehicles: three sedans and one minivan. No injuries were reported and tow trucks have been called.

The QuickMap log says it appears to have started as a rear-end hit.

At 5:34 p.m., a second crash occurred in the same area between a Ford Mustang and BMW SUV, according to Caltrans. The SUV appears driveable but the Ford does not, according to the log. No injuries were reported.

A third crash occurred in the area at 5:47 p.m. A minor injury was reported, according to Caltrans.

The fourth crash was a rear-end toward the bottom of the Grade around 5:58 p.m., according to Caltrans. More information is not yet available online and CHP has not yet responded to request for comment as of Tuesday evening.

The crashes appear unrelated.

Northbound traffic was at a standstill in the area as of 6:14 p.m., according to Caltrans.
