SLO pedestrian seriously injured in fall from Highway 101 overpass

A pedestrian suffered major injuries after falling from a Highway 101 overpass in San Luis Obispo on Thursday afternoon.

According to the CHP, officers received numerous reports just after noon of a pedestrian in the No. 1 lane of Highway 101 at Santa Rose Street.

Units arrived at the scene and determined a male transient was on the Santa Rosa Street overcrossing when he fell onto the highway.

Emergency personnel performed life-saving efforts and transported the man to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center with major injuries.

The incident temporarily blocked traffic while emergency personnel responded.

The cause of the incident is under investigation, according to the CHP.
