Cal Fire responded to a house fire near Shandon on Thursday afternoon.

The fire was reported at 1:57 p.m. at a residence at 3165 Gillis Canyon Road, near Highway 41 in the outskirts of Shandon.

According to Pulsepoint, “heavy fire” in the dwelling’s attic was visible by the time engines arrived on scene, and around 50% of the building was on fire.

As of 3:40 p.m., firefighters had extinguished the flames, though the building was still smoking, a Cal Fire spokesperson said.

The owners of the home were not home at the time, the Cal Fire spokesperson said, and no one was injured.

Cleanup has started and will be finished in around three hours, the spokesperson said.
