Salute to SLO County veterans includes a helicopter flyover and speech by SLO County DA

One of several local Veterans Day events was held Friday morning at Los Osos Valley Mortuary and Memorial Park — complete with a helicopter flyover.
San Luis Obispo District Attorney Dan Dow was the principal speaker at the event.
“Today is the day to celebrate everyone that’s ever served,” Dow said. “And of course, Memorial Day — the ones that paid the ultimate sacrifice — and many of them are buried just behind us here (gestures toward cemetery) in this very beautiful cemetery, memorial park.”

The San Luis Obispo County Band played all the armed forces’ theme songs, and veterans from each branch stood for their song.
The California Highway Patrol H70 helicopter was a big hit with kids, along with a hot dog barbecue and bounce house.
About 40 to 50 people attended the celebration.
Other events were held in Atascadero, Paso Robles, Pismo Beach and Cambria.
