After leaving home with just a backpack last week, missing Atascadero teenager Deven Brown has been safely located.

In a Tuesday voicemail, Atascadero Police Department Corporal Rochelle Hanson confirmed that Brown had been found and turned over to his mother, Cameron Lewis.

The Atascadero Police Department described Brown as a “runaway juvenile” in a Tuesday Facebook post announcing he has been found.

Lewis said in a text message Wednesday that Brown has returned home.

At first, Brown wasn’t sure if he wanted to go back to his Atascadero home.

Lewis said she was working on building a positive relationship with him so he comes home willingly.

Lewis expressed her gratitude to the community who rallied to help her find her missing son.

“I can’t tell you how thankful and appreciative I am of everyone that has looked for him and has put their neck out there to find him and the people that have contacted me to let me know where he’s at,” she said. “I just want to say thank you to everyone out there.”
