Colorful light exhibit coming to SLO for the holidays. Here’s a sneak peek
Move over Sensorio — San Luis Obispo is getting its own light art installation this winter and it promises to be a “memorable immersive event for the entire family.”
In November, the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden will launch Nature Nights, “an immersive outdoor holiday light and art exhibit,” according to a news release.
The exhibit is produced by the Botanical Garden’s director of communication and events, Tracy Strann, who also produced the Bruce Munro: Field of Light exhibit at Sensorio in Paso Robles, according to the release.
According to the release, the exhibit will feature large-format digital images by artist Bryn Forbes, projected on the garden’s hillsides, the surrounding buildings and artifacts, illuminated wire sculptures by Michael Reddell and artistic lighting of garden areas by artist Kody Cava across an 8-acre portion of the Botanical Garden.
Wine, beer and “culinary delights” will also be available to attendees.
“Nature Nights fills a need in San Luis Obispo County for off-season family attractions,” SLO Botanical Garden Executive Director Chenda Lor said in the release. “Through a connection to nature, visitors will enjoy the mental and physical health benefits inherent to the garden experience.”
Nature Nights will open to the public from Nov. 11 through Jan. 8, 2023. It’s located at the SLO Botanical Garden in El Chorro Regional Park.
Tickets will be available Thursdays through Sundays, for hourly time slots at 5, 6 and 7 p.m. Adult tickets cost $19.75 plus fees, children 12 and under $14.75 plus fees and toddlers age 2 and under get in for free.
Botanical Garden members receive a $2 discount per ticket.
