Update: Man found dead in homeless encampment near Highway 101 in SLO

Update, 8:25 p.m.:

The San Luis Obispo Police Department has released further details about man discovered dead in a field Thursday morning.

According to a news release, police received a call at approximately 9:30 a.m. for a possible deceased person at a homeless encampment near Los Osos Valley Road.

Emergency responders found an unresponsive male; attempts to revive him were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The San Luis Obispo County Coroner has taken over the investigation into the cause of death. No foul play is suspected, according to the release.

The man’s name is not being released at this time as next of kin have not been notified.

A body was found at the edge of a field off Los Osos Valley Road, east of Highway 101, in San Luis Obispo on Thursday morning.

San Luis Obispo Police Sgt. Jeff Booth said that foul play was not suspected as a cause of death.

The police and the San Luis Obispo County Coroner’s Office are investigating the case.

No further details had been released as of 3 p.m. Tuesday.
