More than 1,400 SLO County PG&E customers lose power

A power outage swept across Atascadero Friday morning, leaving more than 1,400 residents without electricity.

In total, 1,420 PG&E customers lost power at about 6:30 a.m., according to the PG&E power outage map. The outage was centered on the west side of the city.

Power was restored to all but 298 customers by around 10 a.m. and all customers by midday, according to the map.

PG&E was investigating the cause of the outage.

In a separate power outage, 12 customers in Los Osos also lost power due to planned maintenance at 7:47 a.m. Friday. Power was back on by midday.
