Central Coast ATV rider killed after crashing into parked trailer, CHP says
A Santa Maria man died after his all-terrain vehicle crashed into a parked dump trailer in Nipomo, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash occured at approximately 5:30 p.m. Friday, the CHP said in a news release.
Abraham Espindola, 42, was driving a 2010 Polaris ATV southbound on Hutton Road, south of Cuyama Lane, when he ran off the roadway into the dirt shoulder, according to the release.
Espindola collided with a metal semi-trailer and was ejected from his vehicle, the CHP said.
The Santa Man man, who was not wearing a helmet, sustained a major head injury during the crash, according to the release.
Espindola was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria where he later died from his injuries.
