See dramatic photos, video of Pismo Beach Fourth of July fireworks show

The city of Pismo Beach celebrated Independence Day on Monday with a dramatic fireworks display from the Pismo Beach Pier.

As many as 90,000 people flocked to the San Luis Obispo County city over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, according to Pismo Beach Police Sgt. Jason Spears.

They were treated to mild weather and clear skies — perfect conditions for the city’s iconic pyrotechnic show.

On Monday, two people were arrested on suspicion of possession of illegal fireworks, which carries a fine of up to $2,000, Spears said. The subjects were cited and released, he said.

There were two non-injury traffic crashes in the downtown area, as well as a vehicle crash involving an alleged drunk driver, Spears said.

One person was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public, he said.

There were multiple incidents involving lost or found children, the police sergeant said, adding that the kids were quickly reunited with their families.

“Everybody had a safe weekend,” Spears said.
