Camino Fire in SLO County fully contained at 387 acres
After three days burning in the hills east of Arroyo Grande, the Camino Fire is now 100% contained at 387 acres, according to a news release from Cal Fire.
The fire was caused by a catalytic converter and began Wednesday at 11:58 a.m. No structures were ultimately damaged, and a total of 320 personnel responded, according to the release.
Cal Fire SLO thanked the community and assisting agencies for their support during the fire in a tweet Saturday morning that featured photos of signs posted by residents in the area.
There are no road closures and traffic shouldn’t be effected by equipment during suppression repair efforts, Cal Fire SLO Public Information Officer Adan Orozco said.
These efforts include smoothing over tire tracks, moving brush to hold soil in place and minimizing water erosion, according to Orozco.
Repair is expected to be finished by Monday morning at the latest, he said.
Two first responders were injured fighting the fire. They were from a non-Cal Fire local firefighting agency and the California Conservation Corps, Orozco said.
Their injuries were “non-life threatening,” Orozco noted.
