The San Luis Obispo Sheriff-Coroner’s Office is investigating the death of a person who fell into the ocean at Pirate’s Cove shortly after midnight Friday.

A Cal Fire SLO battalion chief, Sheriff’s Office deputies, the Coast Guard, first responders from Port San Luis and a Calstar 7 Air Ambulance were all on the scene after the incident was reported at 12:11 a.m. Saturday, Cal Fire spokesperson Toni Davis said.

The Sheriff’s Office confirmed Saturday morning that the coroner responded to the incident but said it would not be releasing further information at this time as the investigation is ongoing.

First responders were on scene for three hours and 31 minutes, until 3:43 a.m., Davis confirmed.
