Man who died after falling off Isla Vista cliff identified by officials
Authorities on Monday released the name of the man who died Friday night after he fell from the oceanside bluffs in Isla Vista.
The victim was Chasen Alibrando, 25, of Santa Monica, according to Raquel Zick, public information officer with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau.
“The death appears accidental, however, final determination is pending toxicology,” Zick said.
Emergency personnel were dispatched at approximately 11:40 p.m. Friday for a report of a cliff fall on the 6600 block of Del Playa Drive, according to Capt. Daniel Bertucelli of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
Firefighters attempted to resuscitate Alibrando, whose age was originally estimated as 18, but were not successful, Bertucelli added.
Alibrando reportedly was a 2018 graduate of UC Santa Barbara, the university adjacent to the Isla Vista community, and worked as an investment advisor in the Los Angeles area.
No further details about the incident were available.
