Downed power lines briefly shut down Highway 101 and caused heavy traffic jams through Nipomo on Wednesday morning.

Downed lines across the highway were reported around 10:30 a.m., and crews quickly responded to the area. High winds have been reported throughout San Luis Obispo County, causing numerous power outages and even whipping up a Nipomo farm fire.

Highway 101 reopened after about 40 minutes.

Traffic, however, is still dense, with multiple areas of stand-still jams being reported between Arroyo Grande and Santa Maria, according to Caltrans Quick Maps.
