Almost $5 for a gallon of gas? SLO County prices are at an all-time high — again
If you had to do any driving this holiday weekend, it’s was likely painful on your wallet.
Gas prices have been trending upwards for months now throughout California, and San Luis Obispo County is no exception.
On Monday, the average cost of a gallon of gas here was $4.93, according to AAA, which monitors national gas prices.
This is the highest recorded average cost per gallon for the region, according to AAA, and is almost 12 cents more than drivers were paying a month ago.
This made San Luis Obispo County the seventh most expensive county for gas in California, behind Humboldt, Trinity, Napa, Alpine, Mono and Inyo counties.
Meanwhile Gasbuddy.com, which also monitors gas prices, estimated the average cost of a gallon of gas in SLO County at $4.86 on Sunday, down slightly from a 5-year-high of $4.87 per gallon on Saturday.
Gasbuddy.com listed SLO County as the third most expensive metropolitan statistical area in the nation for gas.
How do prices compare across SLO County gas stations?
With an average so close to $5 per gallon, it’s likely many drivers throughout the region are paying even more than that when they fill up.
The most expensive gas in the county appears to be in Cambria, where the Shell station is charging $5.59 per gallon and the Chevron is charging $5.57 per gallon, according to Gasbuddy.
