Roadwork could fully close Hwy. 101, cause delays this week. Here’s where and when

Work will resume on a stretch of Highway 101 north of the Cuesta Grade this week, with significant delays and lane closures expected along the heavily trafficked road.

The good news? Most of those impacts will be felt at night.

According to Caltrans, the project will remove distressed concrete pavement and replace it with precast concrete panels at various locations between the Highway 58 interchange in Santa Margarita and Traffic Way in Atascadero.

Starting Wednesday, drivers will encounter lane and ramp closures heading northbound between 7:30 p.m. and 7 a.m. and southbound from 6:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The highway could also be fully closed intermittently between Highway 58 and Santa Barbara Road between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., according to Caltrans. Drivers will be detoured onto El Camino Real instead.

The $6 million project is expected to completed by the summer.
