Colorado Fire in Big Sur 100% contained, Cal Fire says
The Colorado Fire in Big Sur that burned a total of 687 acres was 100% contained on Saturday after two weeks of burning, according to the Cal Fire incident report.
Cal Fire said damage inspection has been completed, reporting only one damaged structure, a yurt. The fire threatened 225 structures.
The wildfire started the evening of Jan. 21, on Palo Colorado Canyon Road and was caused by hot embers from a “pile burning operation,” Cal Fire said in a Jan. 25 news release.
From there, hot winds blew the embers onto wildland, Cal Fire said.
Cal Fire initially expected the fire to be 100% contained by Wednesday.
The fire required help from 48 firefighters and two crews.
