One person sustained major injuries in a car crash on Highway 1 outside of Morro Bay on Tuesday afternoon.

The crash was reported on the highway near Quintana Road around 4:16 p.m., according to emergency response app, PulsePoint.

CHP officer J. Dunbar said a blue van was crossing the highway at the intersection when it collided with a white Dodge truck.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage in the collision.

The driver of the van had major injuries due to the crash and was transported to a local hospital, Dunbar said. The driver of the truck sustained only minor injuries.

Traffic was only slightly impacted by the incident. As of 5:45 p.m., traffic was once again moving smoothly through the area.
