Early-morning house fire displaces San Luis Obispo resident

A single-family home in San Luis Obispo was severely damaged in a fire early Sunday, with the only person who lived there uninjured but diplaced from the home, according to the San Luis Obispo Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to calls of a possible structure fire near Helena Street and San Carlos Drive just before 1 a.m.

Crews arrived and found heavy smoke near the back of the home.

The fire was contained within about 15 minutes, but the inside and outside of the home were damaged. The Red Cross is helping the resident find shelter, the fire department said.

Fire officials said the cause of the blaze remained under investigation.
