Friendly border collie mix named Malu still looking for his forever home
‘Tis the season to reflect on 2021 and remember all the wonderful dogs and cats who, due to the Tribune’s Pet Tales column, found homes. Each of these critters was being overlooked, but because of you, nearly all of them were adopted — thank you, Tribune staff and Pet Tales readers.
Though most were adopted, toward the end of the year adoptions are notoriously low, which explains why a good guy like Malu — who appeared in Pet Tales in November — has had only one potential adopter make an appointment to meet him.
Which is a shame because Malu is a skilled family pet who knows the commands “sit” and “shake.” You may even have seen him in the SLO Christmas Parade walking well on a leash and impressing the crowd by sitting up prairie dog style for a well-deserved treat.
Malu is a 3-year-old border collie mix who’s lifelong owners reluctantly brought him to the shelter because Malu couldn’t resist chasing goats and chickens. It was a hard decision because his owners appreciated Malu’s affectionate nature, loving people of all ages and dogs of all sizes. He’s also fun to take to the beach, where he enjoys running and playing in the surf.
Timing is everything — perhaps Malu’s perfect adopters didn’t see him in Pet Tales the first time, perhaps this time they will, thus making 2022 the beginning of a dream come true for Malu — a lifelong, loving home.
