This is the best beach in all of San Luis Obispo County, according to Tribune readers

Under a colorful sky, a great blue heron walks the shoreline for dinner Sunday evening at Morro Strand.

It’s finally here.

After weeks of deliberation, Tribune readers have cast their final votes in our first-ever Best SLO County Beaches Bracket, to determine the ultimate ocean-side spot.

With 61% of the vote, Morro Strand came out as the big winner, making it the Tribune-reader-selected best beach in San Luis Obispo County.

South County’s Avila Beach made a valiant showing, taking home 39% of the vote, but ultimately could not beat the spacious North Coast spot for the title.

In comments sent to The Tribune regarding the bracket, the majority of voters said crowds (or lack of them) were the big factor behind the reason they chose Morro Strand over Avila Beach.

“If I wanted a beach that’s wall-to-wall people, I would’ve stayed in Newport Beach,” one voter emailed The Tribune.

Now that the voting is done, we want to do know: Do you agree? Is Morro Bay the best beach in San Luis Obispo County? Or do you wish another had won?
