Arroyo Grande man killed after hitting tractor on his motorcycle

A 48-year-old Arroyo Grande man was killed when his motorcycle hit a John Deere tractor in rural San Luis Obispo on Friday.

According to a CHP news release, the unidentified man was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on Orcutt Road north of Edna Ranch Circle just after 1 p.m.

Just ahead of him, a John Deere tractor began a left-hand turn onto a private drive. At the same time, the motorcyclist entered southbound Orcutt Road in a legal passing area.

The motorcyclist hit the back of the tractor, and was fully ejected from the motorcycle, according to the CHP.

He sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash, the CHP said.

The man’s name is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
