More than 2,000 customers in Nipomo were without power early Monday afternoon, according to PG&E.

The outage began at 12:20 p.m. and was impacting homes and businesses on both sides of Highway 101, stretching from Pomeroy and Orchard roads west to the rural hills above Nipomo.

Crews were en route to assess the cause, the utility company said. A traffic collision with power lines down was reported in the area of South Thompson Avenue at roughly the same time the outage was first reported.

Power was estimated to be turned back on around 3:15 p.m., according to PG&E’s outage map.
