Vandenberg Air Force Base will launch a test missile this week
Vandenberg Air Force Base will launch an unarmed intercontinental ballistic missile early Tuesday morning.
Base representatives say the U.S. Air Force will launch a Minuteman III sometime between 12:21 a.m. and 6:21 a.m. from north Vandenberg, near Lompoc.
The launch allows the Air Force to test its systems and procedures, and is typically not related to any real world events.
Tuesday launch is the base’s first since the coronavirus pandemic reached the Central Coast in March, and only its second this year.
