Flames that broke out in vegetation Sunday night near the Irish Hills ridgetop were quickly contained, according to officials.

The fire was held to a 40-by-40-foot area, according to Cal Fire, but firefighters remained there for at least another two hours. It broke out about 5:30 p.m.

Firefighters worked the blaze amid winds of about 13 mph with gusts up to 19 mph, Cal Fire reported.

San Luis Obispo City Fire and a water-dropping helicopter also responded to the scene near Los Osos Valley Road and Highway 101, according to Cal Fire.
