A person suffers traumatic injury after fall off cliff into Lake Nacimiento

A person fell off a 20-foot cliff into Lake Nacimiento sustaining a traumatic injury, according to CAL Fire Public Information Officer Jessie Ryan.

At 3:36 p.m. on Saturday, Cal Fire dispatch received a call for medical aid of a person who fell off a 20-foot cliff into the lake in a remote area near Oak Shores Marina. “Cal Fire units responded along with Monterey County parks rangers in boats to the area because the location was inaccessible by vehicle”, Ryan said.

The victim was then transported by boat to a nearby landing zone for the CHP helicopter H-70, which had also been dispatched, to airlift the victim to the hospital, Ryan said.

The person was airlifted to Sierra Vista Hospital in San Luis Obispo because the hospital is equipped with a trauma center, Ryan said. The entire rescue lasted for about an hour.

We will update this incident when more information becomes available.
