Person pinned under fallen tree near top of Cuesta Grade

Emergency crews responded Friday afternoon to a report of a person pinned under a fallen tree near the top of the Cuesta Grade on.

At approximately 1:02 p.m., Cal Fire received a report of a patient injured by a fallen tree approximately four miles from Highway 101 on the northbound side, in a rural area near the top of the Cuesta Grade.

Radio scanner traffic said the patient had a possible broken femur and was being assisted by Cal Fire medics at about 1:20 p.m.

A Cal Fire spokesman said the patient was struck in the lower body by a falling tree branch and was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center. The person was in stable condition.

One fire engine and an ambulance responded to the remote site, according to scanner traffic.
