Several SLO County residents in self-observation after traveling to areas with COVID-19
Several San Luis Obispo County residents are in self-observation, not quarantine, after traveling to areas around the state or other countries known to have outbreaks of coronavirus, according to the county Public Health Department.
“This means that they are not confined to their homes, but are asked to report at the first sign of any COVID-19 symptoms,” including fever, shortness of breath and a dry cough, Public Health spokesperson Michelle Shoresman told The Tribune.
Residents were informed of their “self-observation” status after health officials reviewed their cases and determined their risk of infection was still low and not high enough to be ordered to quarantine, Shoresman said.
No cases have been confirmed in SLO County.
Officials recommend people take common, everyday flu prevention measures to help reduce the spread of COVID-19, such as washing your hands, staying home if you are sick and using emergency services only if you feel very ill.
There is no need to contact the Public Health Department if you travel outside your local area, Shoresman said.
