Firefighters are used to plucking cats out of trees, but on Friday a Cal Fire crew from Paso Robles discovered a curious kitty in a new predicament: It was stuck in a chimney.

Somehow, an orange tabby got trapped inside an abandoned chimney off Neal Spring Road in rural Paso Robles, according to a Cal Fire tweet.

Only the cat’s head was visible through a small hole in the bricks as it meowed at the firefighters from Cal Fire Station 30 who came to its rescue.

To save the cat, a firefighter used a cap to protect the animal’s head while using a hammer to chip away at the bricks.

The wayward feline was eventually extricated without injury and returned to its owner, the tweet said.
