First SLO County baby of 2020 is a boy delivered not long after midnight

The first baby of the new year in San Luis Obispo County is a boy named Brody, who was delivered not long after locals celebrated the start of 2020.

The birth took place at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in SLO at 12:36 a.m. Wednesday.

The parents of the child asked not to be named in the story, according to hospital officials.

But the hospital said in a statement “we are happy to share this memorable moment with the community.”

“We are delighted to introduce our first newborn of 2020 here at Tenet Health Central Coast’s Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center,” said hospital spokesman Ara Najarian. “Baby Brody was welcomed to the world early this morning, at 12:36 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2020, and we are happy to share this memorable moment with the community.”

Brody weighs 7 pounds and 6 ounces.
